Fabulous Over 50

Welcome to "Fabulous Over 50," the podcast where we celebrate a group of women who are defying age stereotypes and showing that life only gets better with time. Your host, Jen Hardy, is going to lead you on a journey to the fabulousness inside yourself.

Apr 4, 2018

I'm Jen Hardy, the host of the podcast. Sometimes life; the never ending to-do list; and my health completely take over. I'll go to bed thinking - Why? Why am I doing all these things? Why am I so miserable? If you ever have those thoughts, then this is the episode for you!

I wrote the book, "The Sick Mom's Guide to Having Fun Again: If I can do it, you can too!" after I had an epiphany. I had been making sure everyone in my life (kids & husband) were having fun, doing the things they wanted to do, eating the things they enjoyed eating, and having fun. But I wasn't doing the same things for myself. My life got so much better when I gave myself permission to relax and enjoy it.

I want you to enjoy yours too!

Things you can do today, even if you don't have much energy:
Play a game you enjoy
Call someone who makes you smile
Have a joke-telling contest
Get some rest, you'll be happier tomorrow

Everyday things to make your life better:
Have a contest every day to see who can make the others laugh out loud
Schedule time for fun into your calendar each week
Make the space where you spend the most time feel good so you're happy there

Jen's advice for moms with chronic health issues:
Give yourself permission to have fun
Remember your health issue doesn't define who you are

Jen's superpower today is: breaking through the illness to get this podcast recorded
